A couple weeks ago I was contacted by Erica from Knittedfiddle (FiddleLee.etsy.com), who runs an Etsy Treasures blog that features weekly artist interviews. There are a lot of great interviews on the blog so I agreed.

Well, it posted this morning. It's pretty cool. Check it out at:

What about BOB?

Oh yeah. I wanted to thank my father officially. One of his many creations
was unvailed a couple days ago on my Etsy site. I'm calling this little guy B.O.B. It stands for "Bunch of Bolts". I'd love to make those copper robots my dad made for me, but I haven't welded in a very long time.
Well...Kudos dad. And thanks.
Now if I could only reproduce your hand drawn Dinosaur book, that would be cool.

Welcome to my blog

Hi! Welcome to my blog!

I'd like to post all kinds of things up here, but time and my ability to type quickly may limit this proposal. Instead, with no preconceived ideas, I begin.

I've been working as an illustrator now for quite awhile. My work is on magazine covers and in a school books and in advertisements. Recently, I created portraits for some amazing authors for the Tufts University "In Their Own Words" author series (http://www.tufts.edu/alumni/c-authors.html). People like Anita Shreve (Body Surfing) and Gregory Maguire (Wicked).

I also started an Etsy shop not long ago. It's called Something Whimsical (www.somethingwhimsical.etsy.com). I decided to play a bit with some older ideas and sketches and finish them. My wife Maribeth has a great shop as well (www.briefmoments.etsy.com) and she is doing well so I figured what the hell.

Tonight I figured I could finally post something up here inbetween me working on my Directory of Illustration page for 2009 (http://www.directoryofillustration.com/ArtistPortfolioThumbs.aspx?AID=1701). It's hard to decide what to put on the page, but I do have a couple of images I really like. Something I created for AAA Living magazine and a couple portraits might look nice. We'll see. :)
